ONE MORE DAY UNTIL PISTAHAN SF! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 We are almost 24 hours away from the start of the Pistahan Parade! Beginning at 11:00 A.M. the parade will march along Market Street in San Francisco and marks the start of our annual Pistahan Weekend. This year we have announced Tita Aida as the iconic 2024 Hermana Mayor, but who else is participating in our beautiful parade? As Parade Grand Marshals we are proud to announce Cris Comerford, Mark Nagales, and Flor Nicolas will be leading the way down Market Street. We are also honored to announce that Vas Kiniris, Jose Pecho, Melanie Ramil, and Rex Tabora will be judging this year’s parade so be sure to cheer and give the participants your love as they march down. A huge thank you to our emcee as well, Aaron Horner, and we hope you will all match his energy during the Pistahan parade. WE ARE SO PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR HERMANA MAYOR FOR THIS YEAR's PISTAHAN! As we celebrate the 31st Anniversary of Pistahan, and our Bayanihan Spirit, we're excited to announce our first transgender Hermana Mayor, Tita Aida, a dedicated LGBTQ+ advocate and HIV/AIDS activist. During the HIV epidemic, she ensured prevention and education reached A&PI LGBTs in San Francisco. Her work with the San Francisco Community Health Center has secured ongoing funding for transgender programs, including mental health care and research studies. Nationally recognized, Tita Aida was the first Asian-Pacific Islander trans woman appointed by then-Mayor Gavin Newsom as Commissioner on the Status of Women. She also served on the Entertainment Commission of San Francisco. In 2012, she created public service announcements in the Philippines to raise AIDS awareness. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped distribute masks and provided safety training. Recently, Mayor London Breed honored her during Transgender History Month in August 2024. �Tita Aida looks forward to the "Bayanihan Experience" at Pistahan, saying, "We've come a long way! Let's continue growing, building bridges, and showcasing the beauty of our Philippine culture.
